D400 Series Digital Valve Positioners

Brand: Valve Accessories & Controls

The VAC D400 is a microprocessor-based, “intelligent” instrument that can be mounted to rotary or linear pneumatic actuators for accurate positioner control.

This unit, while sophisticated in its accuracy and performance, is simple to mount, calibrate, and with well-filtered air and proper maintenance, can provide very accurate and trouble-free service for many years.

With local push-button calibration and LCD, no expensive handheld devices are needed for basic set up and calibration.

Available with Foundation Fieldbus, or Profibus communication, the D400 range of applications and communications meets the latest industry standards.

The “efficiencies” of the D400 are not only in its microprocessor-based technology and accuracy but also in the pneumatic air handling where air consumption is kept to a very minimum.

D400-EX

The D400 EX (explosion proof) unit is completely contained in a rugged die-cast aluminum housing. FM, CSA, ATEX approvals are available meeting a wide range of classifications, divisions, and group listings.

The unit has a unique cover arrangement that allows for simple entry into the calibration/configuration chamber, while not exposing internal components and thus breaking the hazardous area classification.

The D400 can be fully calibrated and even configured from onboard push buttons or via a handheld device or network. The external visual indicator can be adjusted for various rotations or degrees.

Available in Hart, Foundation Fieldbus, and Profibus, this microprocessor-based positioner is available in all key process industry communication standards.

Options such as fail in place, 4-20 mA feedback (Hart only), microswitches, gauge block, rotary or linear mounting are all standard options for the D400EX unit.

The unique standard option of “adaptive control”, allows the customer to update the complete valve package to “adapt” to process changes, while not disturbing the Operation mode.

The very low bleed product utilizes proven air handling technology for dependable service, while the microprocessor and software add accuracy and flexibility to this positioner package.

D400-IS

The D400 IS unit utilizes the standard NEMA 4X housing but can be ordered to meet FM, CSA, ATEX, and IECEx approvals for Intrinsically Safe applications.

The various approvals are listed in the Approvals Details document linked above in the documentation section.

Product performance specifications would be identical to the standard D400, but the many lists of IS approvals offer a real benefit to meet specific area classifications and are less expensive than a full EX rated product.
