In 1969, Dwight W. Prouty, Sr. founded Dwight W. Prouty Company in Mobile, Alabama to focus on the needs of the growing pulp and paper industry in South Alabama. At that time the term Industrial Automation was relatively new and many industry veterans were not sure what do yet with digital instruments and electronic automation.
As the industrial and manufacturing market around the SouthEast expanded from primarily pulp and paper mills to automotive, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and mining operations so did the products and manufacturers that our company represented. During the 1970s and 1980s our operations expanded to offering specialized digital analyzers, instruments, and valves.
Today Dwight W. Prouty Company serves as a manufacturer’s representative and specialty distributor supplying products for analyzing, measuring, and controlling critical processes for large scale industrial clients. We are proud to support clients throughout the Southeastern United States and Internationally with a primary focus on the states of Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida.

Company History
1969 – Dwight W. Prouty Company is founded by Dwight W. Prouty, Sr. to serve as a manufacturer representative focused on industrial automation for the pulp and paper industry.
1992 – Jed Prouty joins Dwight W. Prouty Company to continue the family tradition of provide the highest quality analyzing and automation equipment to the growing industrial markets in Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi.
2010- Jed Prouty acquires Dwight W Prouty Company from his father Dwight W. Prouty, Sr.
2011- Acquisition of Horton Instrument allows expansion in additional key markets.
